From the beginning, the clients knew they wanted a home that felt historical yet worked for modern, functional living. 

They drew inspiration from classic Tuscan architecture and Spanish influences, adapted thoughtfully for the Arizona desert. The result is a hybrid of Mediterranean architecture and Southwestern sensibility: a Tuscan home that feels equally romantic and grounded.

Craftsmanship in Every Detail

The artistry of Tuscan style homes comes to life through material and detail. The exterior features a sophisticated blend of Cantera stone, stacked stone, copper gutters, and traditional red serpentine roof tile. 

Inside, the home unfolds in layers of texture and light. Travertine floors anchor the space, while wood beams, carved Cantera columns, and limestone details add depth and richness. The craftsmanship is evident in every curve and joint, celebrating the tactile beauty of natural materials.

Even with all those classical features, it still feels fresh and livable. It’s a home that could have existed for generations, but functions flawlessly for modern life.

Outdoor Living Space, Designed from the Start

As with every Sanctuary home, outdoor living was never an afterthought, it was part of the design vision from day one. Sitting on an elevated lot with mountain and city light views, the estate’s indoor and outdoor spaces were crafted to balance family life and elegant entertaining.

Multiple outdoor zones were designed to suit every mood and moment: a covered patio with a barbecue and lounge area, a pool deck with plenty of sun and shade, and a large open space perfect for kids to play or host friends. A putting green, basketball hoop, and integrated misting system add luxury and livability.

Framing the Desert

This build sits on a dramatic, elevated lot surrounded by desert beauty. During pre-construction, the team spent extensive time walking the site, studying light, angles, and views to ensure the architectural design embraced its surroundings.

From the front entry, your eye moves effortlessly through the home and out toward sweeping mountain vistas. We positioned each major room to capture a view or a moment of natural beauty. You can see the mountains, feel the light, and still have a sense of intimacy.

Materials

Part of what makes this home so memorable is its tactile quality. Every surface feels intentional. We sourced hand-carved Cantera rustic stone from Mexico, paired it with warm travertine, stacked stone, and limestone, and layered in granite, quartzite, and slate for a truly organic mix.

It’s rare to see this much natural material used today. This project gave us the opportunity to lean into texture and artistry. Every element had soul.
